What are add-on fees ? 

Understanding Add-on Fees

Add-on fees allow you to charge members for additional services or one-time costs beyond the base membership price. Common examples include sign-up fees, locker rentals, administrative fees, or any other custom charges your gym may require.

Key Features:

  • Flexible Billing: Add-on fees can be set as one-time charges or recurring fees (weekly, monthly, etc.)

  • Member Targeting: Choose whether the fee applies to new members only, existing members only, or all members

  • Linked to Memberships: Add-on fees are typically attached to specific membership types

  • Independent Sales: Can also be sold separately through the Point of Sale (POS) after a membership is assigned

How do add-on fees work ? 

Automatic Application: When a member purchases or is assigned a membership that has an add-on fee linked to it, the fee is automatically included in their contract based on your settings.

Member-Specific Logic: The system intelligently applies fees based on member status:

  • New Member Fee Example: A sign-up fee set to "New Members Only" will only be charged when someone purchases that membership for the first time. If an existing member renews the same membership, they won't see the sign-up fee again.

  • Existing Member Fee Example: An annual locker fee set to "Existing Members Only" will only be charged to members who already have an active membership.

Duration and Billing:

  • Add-on fees follow the membership length by default

  • If sold independently after membership assignment, they align with the membership's end date

  • If a member doesn't have an active membership, the add-on fees can not be sold as standalone items. 


Where do the fees appear ? 

For Members:

  • Displayed as separate line items during the membership purchase process

  • Shown clearly on invoices and contracts

  • Visible in their member profile under the membership details

For Administrators:

  • Listed under the member's profile in the "Membership" section

  • Click the dropdown arrow next to the membership to view all associated add-on fees

  • Manageable independently (can be cancelled without affecting the membership)

Can Add-on Fees Be Cancelled?

Yes! Add-on fees can be cancelled at any time without cancelling the entire membership. This gives you flexibility to adjust member accounts as needed.

To cancel an add-on fee:

  1. Navigate to the member's profile

  2. Go to the "Membership" section

  3. Click the dropdown arrow to view membership details

  4. Select the add-on fee you want to cancel

  5. Click "Cancel" and confirm
