Making a split payment

When making a sale via the Point of Sale, you have the option to split the total payment into two payment methods.

This allows the client to pay a portion of the payment on one payment method, and the remaining amount on another, while keeping everything in one transaction!

Note: The split payment feature is only available via the Point of Sale. It is not available for clients on the app or web.

Here’s how:

  1. In POS, select your client and membership/service/product that you’re selling as usual.
  2. Click ‘Complete Sale’.
  3. If you want to split the payment into two payment methods, check the box that says ‘Split payment’.

  4. Select the first payment method - by default, this first payment method will be the total amount (including tax) minus the secondary amount.
  5. Select the secondary payment method and specify a secondary amount.

  6. Complete the sale.

Reviewing split payment transactions:

On the List of Payments, you’ll be able to easily identify which transactions were split into two payment methods, as they will be grouped together.

Filtering split payment transactions:

When filtering the payment list by specific payment method or status, you will see the entire transaction, but sales totals will only include your filtered results.

Refunding split payment transactions:

If you want to refund the entire purchase, you will need to process a refund for each payment method. For each payment method transaction, click on the three dots and select refund.

Partial refunds:

For partial refunds, click on the arrow beside the Reference ID of the transaction, and click the three dots on the line item, then enter the amount you wish to refund.

Note: The partial refund will apply to the secondary payment method. If the amount of partial refund is greater than the secondary payment amount, it will then refund the remaining amount on the primary payment amount.

It is not possible to select which payment method you wish to apply for the partial refund.
