How to manage my SMS and Email budget

You are billed for every SMS and Email you send. Here is how you can optimise your costs of operation.

EMAIL :

First of all, emails are the cheapest type of message you can send. It's a fixed fee and the length does not affect the cost of it.

If you send template email, that does not affect the cost of it.

For every automated workflow, we recommend that you have a ratio of 80% emails and 20% sms.

Even if the opening rate of an email is lower, start your workflow with an email is a good thing.

SMS:

SMS is at a more variable cost but it has the highest opening rate and make he conversation more personal than an email.

How to determine the cost of your SMS :

Every sms can be break into segments. 1 segment = 160 characters. You can see your number of characters in the sms editor in automations :

If you have 161 characters,  you will be charged for 2 sms.

Make sure that you edit manually your SMS in the editor, because if you copy and paste it from a google sheet or Word file, it can paste hidden characters and increase you umber of characters.

Finally, emojis are cool, but it also increase you number of segments automatically.
